Indie Game Developer Can Be A Lonely Job
I never realized it before but after years of working as indie game developer, one thing that struck me real hard on my head is this path can lead to a lonely lifestyle. Imagine yourself working on your computer most of time with minimal interaction with other people. Most of your communication are conducted on the Internet with your team members, target players and other people interested in your game project.
I guess this does not pose a big problem but the effect do takes its toll several years later. Some friend might ignore you if you're carried away with your work. This is the reason why it is so important to have balanced life. Even if you are a fully committed independent game developer, it's always a good idea to have a normal social life - hanging out with your friends and spending some time with your girlfriend/boyfriend.
Indie game developer does not have to be associated with anti-social behaviour

Thanks for your concern. Yes, that’s 100% my post written by me. Recent events last month has made me to think and reflect what I’ve done over these few years. There’s one thing that I realize – I’m not happy of what I’ve been accomplished so far. I get the feeling that I can achieve so much more had I done it differently.
This has nothing to do with Math Quest project but more on general direction that I took as indie game developer. Maybe I should tap the power of collaborative effort when I get the opportunity. Maybe I’m not cut out to be an indie game developer even though I manage to publish an indie game. Maybe I should change my career to be an analyst doing some really complicated technical analysis. Charts upon charts upon charts.
Sorry if you have to read my nonsense rambling. My state of mind is a little bit chaotic right now triggered by someone and it might take quite some time to clean up the mess.

Are you sure this post coming from you, Edy or did somebody get access to your blog and post this strange stuff? Has somebody been influencing you?

SALUTE!… having a balanced life is important, as much passion a person may have and as much satisfaction a person gets from fulfilling that passion, it cannot replace love/relationships between people. Lets pursue our passion in games development but lets not forget about your family and friends

Thanks for your comment. I tend to forget that human is a social being that also have the needs to communicate with each others. No one can change or influence me no matter how persuasive he or she can be. It has to come from me.
